I’ve been working on the Collections in Verse project for Sheffield – a collaborative commission with Poet in the City and The British Library.
As part of this project, I’m running a series of workshops to listen to the tales and experiences that are important to women in Sheffield. The workshops will ask women what has been passed on (recipes, objects, jewellery, stories, books etc), and listen to the stories and histories that have often been left out of the official records.
The workshops will inspire new poetry, and will also contribute towards a local exhibition of women’s stories – many of which are still missing from historical archives.
One of the listening workshops is on Thursday 26 September 2019, 10am – 12 noon at Highfields Library, Sheffield. Please come along with your objects and stories, and spread the word!
If you can’t make the workshop on 26th, but would like to share a sentence, photo or object with us, please email ruby@poetinthecity to get involved.
