I’ve never been to a poetry night in Pudsey before. But Poetry and a Pint at Cafe Lux seems to be going from strength to strength. A Firm of Poets have a residency at Cafe Lux, which is part of Pudsey Wellbeing Centre: a place where ordinary people are standing up and sharing their poetry with the world. This month the event was hosted by Geneviève Walsh, “Scary, Sweary, Verse-Writing Fairy” , and featured special guest, Horsforth poet Mark Connors.
Highlights included “Bird on a Wire” by Barry, written in a workshop with Ralph Dartford earlier in the day, and Firefighter, Paul Drinkwater’s “Mum’s Gone to Iceland”. It was a super supportive crowd and Geneviève asked me back to do a set at her Spoken Weird night in Halifax on 6 August, 7.30pm at Bar Up. Looking forward to more events in West Yorkshire!
